From the Archives: Yesterday Senator Cory Bernardi moved a series of motions in the Senate, including one that opposed "Medicare funding for termination of pregnancy, where it occurs on gender grounds". The motion was defeated, but it's not the first time something like this has been tried. This month, the private member’s bill the Health Insurance Amendment (Medicare Funding for Certain Types of Abortion) Bill 2013, sponsored by Senator John Madigan, is expected to come back to the Senate for debate.
