Shot in the head, now Malala faces backlash in Pakistan

Pakistani education advocate Malala Youseffzai did not let an attack by the Taliban silence her. Her reward? A backlash, laden with conspiracy theories and victim-bashing.

Pakistani teenager Malala Yousafzai may have become a hero to many in the West. But in her home country, she’s been accused of being an attention-seeker and an opportunist — and senior figures still refuse to name and shame the attackers who shot her in the head.

@Zeke. And where is Benazir Bhutto now?

I cry for the world…she is just a little girl, soon to be subject to the requirements of her culture. She is bilingual, intelligent and AWARE. She is more than many of our own youth will ever be, in our fat, dumb and happy land, and could influence so much. There should be more in the future for such as she than their inevitable destruction.

Yes Zeke, I have never understood that paradox re: Benazir Bhutto so I suspect there was much more to it.

Zeke, Bhutto was a member of a dynasty. Even the most reactionary states (the Byzantine empire, Tsarist Russia etc) were happy to have female leaders if they’re part of the ‘right family’. It proves nothing.

    DRMICK: Put it here pal.

Trouble is the old men get older and dryer because they all access the latest Western medicines and live longer. So brave of the Taliban to shoot school children. Not!

You lot are all dumbed down cheer leaders for the MSM sterio-types. Why don’t you just come out and call them Rag Heads?

What right do we super advanced self righteous Westerners have to impose our imperialist ultra-feminist doctrines on a culture that has existed the same way for thousands of years? You are all ignorant judgmental hypocrites.

And none of you see the hidden handywork of the international intelligence agencies. Did the Taliban really claim responsibilty for the shooting? Or was it a proxy following a Neocon and Council of Foreign

The rest of my comment has been moderated so I won’t bother. What’s the use?

You got a job Susan? An education? Can you own property? Are you considered property? Can you go outside by yourself? Can you vote?

The freedoms you have have been hard won. What right do you have to deny them to anyone else?
