Crikey Says

Crikey says: scoop — Katter candidates are crazy

There's Labor's war on cost of living -- Bernard Keane reckons they're winning. (But the war on cyber crime is a dud.) More on Tony Abbott's war on the carbon tax. War in Africa -- Guy Rundle on why the world is nervous. And David Cameron has declared war on the European Union. Fight or flight?

"P-edophiles will be next in line to be recognised in the same way as gays and lesbians and get rights," said real estate agent turned Katter's Australia Party Victorian candidate Tess Corbett. "I wouldn't let a gay person teach my children and I am not afraid to say it," said former Army major turned Katter's Australia Party Queensland Senate candidate Bernard Gaynor. Cue the front pages. Remember: Bob Katter says he'll run candidates in every federal seat in this year's election. And in each of the states for Senate representation. That's more than 150 bigoted crazies with a microphone. Are we going to write the same story every time?
