There’s the rub – a few “objective progressives” get together to cast aspersions on all sides of politics – till they deride the nurturing idols of the subjective myopic conservatariate (with their self-assured infallibility in having all the answers, as long as “it’s done their way”) and then it’s high dudgeon at ten paces.
@ Anna Kae, Middlemod, R Mathew etc, have you actually read the comments left by a good many of the posters at Bolt’s blog? Have you actually tried to leave a comment there that disagreed with the points raised?
As mentioned above, equating a commercial decision to avoid litigation and/or the expense of moderating (eh?) some self absorbed, fact dodger to the death of free speech is just staggering.
And to then pretend to be offended by a satirical cartoon is fairly low-grade trolling, and amusing at best.
But – shock horror! – your comments made it through moderation at this site. How could any agenda driven leftist propagandist let that happen? I would happily wager any money that your trolling wouldn’t have made it onto the Bolta’s forum.
Andrew Bolt’s blog is nothing more than a den of nasty smears, cheap gotchas, and innuendo laden with a paranoid victimisation complex, ably supported by foul-mouthed, noxious fringe conspiracy theorists who see every legitimate criticism as a left-wing attack on free speech and an attempt to “shut him up” (to borrow a phrase from an ineloquent commenter above). The parrotting buffoons above give me no confidence they have the ability or inclination to be anything other than paranoid, shrill victims.
It’s a harsh fact that he’s earned this audience of morons who deludedly think they are standing against some overarching left-wing orthodoxy.
News Ltd (not First Dog, as the trolls would have you believe) have decided it’s no longer worth giving these nuts a soapbox from which to defame and smear, and who can blame them?
Dear Firsthouse,
I didn’t think the letters you publish in your magazine were real — until now. I was sipping my chardonnay-latte, wondering how to deal another terrible blow to democracy, and stop people thinking for themselves when the most-read political blog in Australia caught my eye. Comments gone! Free-speech in its death throes! Wave after wave of moral-elitism coursed through me. Spent, I succumbed to sleep in the warmist, polyamorous embrace of my inner-city, cultural-elitist hypocrisy.

Not sure if you have been following the AB blog but the last few months has seen an significant increase in posts that highlight reader comments.
If AB hasn’t the time to personalize the majority of his content I hardly think he has time to troll on this website. (and that is something worth discussing)
I would expect all ‘supposed’ credible journalists to read articles/comments across as many online sources as they can. To expect any less only highlights your own bias and IQ challenged mentality.

July 13, 2012 at 1:41 pmIt seems that the Blot himself has linked to this page on his “comment free” blog. That’s who let the trolls in…

July 13, 2012 at 2:04 pmNow I’ve been quoted by Pure Poison as a maniac from “teh right” and now by Andrew Bolt’s blog as being a a knuckledragger from “teh left”.
Given how simplistically I laid it out, I’m surprised how easily Bolt and Blair walked right into that one.
I’ll say one thing for Pure Poison, I had to smother myself in a lot more chum to attract a bite.
