I saw a gentleman in Colesworths yesterday in camouflage fatigues. He was stocking up on essential supplies like bottled water and tinned food (no egglants or cabages). I wasn’t game to ask him if he was a Bolt-on (or Bloterator or whatever they call themselves) but he had that squinty-eyed look about him, plus the 12 cartons of shoe polish were a bit of a giveaway. Strange days indeed.
I’d really wonder if bolt’s commenters were all actual followers. I maintained a fairly outrageous ultra right wing persona over there for the sake of hillarity.
Some of my wilder stuff was actually used at times by his enemies as an example of the lunatics who followed him and what an open sewer his blog was. I don’t deny my lunatic status, but I certainly wasn’t a bolt follower.
Surely I wasn’t the only one trolling for some lulz.
I had no idea this had happened but I think it is a terrible blow for democracy.
If only he’d asked, I’d have happily taken over the moderation of the comments on his blog. And I’d take the job seriously too, bearing in mind the dictionary definition of the verb “to moderate” is “To lessen the violence, severity, or extremeness of (something). I’d have done some real moderation, introducing concepts like facts, logic and truth.
Hmm, on second thoughts, maybe that wouldn’t have been what he was after.

July 12, 2012 at 1:22 pmYou forgot ‘Commenting on Julian Burnside’s article over at The Drum’. Do. Not. Read. The. Comments.
My working theory is that the numbers of comments were dwindling because of the paywall, anyhow.

July 12, 2012 at 2:02 pmReally, did A Blot have a blog? That would suggest his followers were literate. I never suspected.
