    Brilliant.

    Just a suggestion – ‘Hansons’ might be the appropriate unit to measure xenophobia but you need different units to measure hypocrisy. I don’t think the Coalition benches harbour many (or any) genuine xenophobes but it’s leaders are not above using xenophobia to further their political ends. How about the ‘Abbott’ as the unit for hypocrisy. Or, having seen a soundbite of Joe Hockey’s performance in Parliament – maybe a ‘Hockey’. There are so many to choose from.

    Good point steve – i wanted to say some of that myself but ran out of space. The problem is that if you use xenophobia to further your ends, but you are not xenophobic – doesn’t that make you even worse? Or not. Anyway I needed more time and space to make it funny.

    @FD: A hypocritical xenophobe? Too many of them in parliament now.

    Or a “sHockey”? “Kandrews”? “Pruddock”?

    [A bit like those politico-religious auctions we get on Q&A sometimes – “I’m more religious than you!”
    “No. I’m more religious and I’m more Christian than you!”]

    Re Steve 777:

    The unit of measure for hypocricy: the Bishop.

    Choose for yourself whether the one in focus is a Bronwyn, a Julie or a Catholic.

    How many Mirabellas does it take to change a lightglobe?

    @HB: What do you mean change it? It’s a perfectly good bloody bulb! We have had it for a thousand years and it has worked just fine.

    @Holden Back
    I agree, this was one of those brilliant remarks that some see the deeper irony, others don’t.
    SB is still scratching her head.
