The Glenn Dyer breakdown: Squelch. That’s the sound of Nine’s schedule last night hitting the wall as viewers surprisingly ignored The Big Bang Theory. Next Monday night Nine starts the much hyped Alcatraz series with the pilot episode, and then first episode for a two hour showing from 8.30pm. That’s the series starring Sam Neill who was last seen spruiking red meat in Australia!

The big question for Nine though is whether Excess Baggage will be in the line-up next Monday night (or tonight) after another flop last night: just 610,000 and positioned Nine fourth after the ABC between 7pm and 8pm.

My Kitchen Rules added viewers last night: an additional 100,000 or more people watched it in the metro markets. Apart from The Biggest Loser, Ten was very weak and was pipped by the stronger ABC line up in the main channels.

Including Ten, ONE and Pay TV, a total 362,000 people watched the Super Bowl yesterday.

The Losers: Excess Baggage; just pap.

The Biggest Loser struggled up to 811,000, so not as bad as last week, but it is such an insincere program. Ten and its producers have lost the plot on this one this year. Hawaii Five O, also on Ten, at 8.30pm, 517,000.

The Mentalist repeat on Nine at 9.30pm, 601,000. It was a fill-in schedule for last night for Nine and the audience responded.

Metro News & CA: Nine News and A Current Affair won Sydney and Melbourne. Seven News and Today Tonight had bigger win in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. The ABC’s line up returned and did very well in adding to the solid performance of the News and 7.30.

Seven now leads the week with 29.4% from Nine on 28.3% and Ten with 21.8%. Metro Main Channels: Seven won with a share of 25.5%, from Nine on 18.5% (a big win!), ABC 1 was on 14.8%, Ten was on 14.4% and SBS ONE ended on 2.9%. Seven now leads the week with 23.4% from Nine on 22.1% and Ten on 16.6%.

Metro Digital: 7TWO won with a share of 4.9%, from GO on 3.2%, with Eleven and ONE on 2.9% each, Gem and 7mate on 2.5%, ABC 2 on 2.3%, News 24 on 1.1%, SBS TWO on 1.0% and ABC 3 on 0.6%. The 10 digital channels had an FTA share last night of 23.9%. 7TWO and GO lead the week with 3.6% each.

Pay TV: Seven (3 channels) won with a share of 27.2%, from Nine (3) on 20.1%, Ten (3) was on 16.7%, the ABC (4) was on 15.5%, Pay TV (200 plus channels) was on 15.0% and SBS (2) on 3.2%. The 15 FTA channels had a total share of 15.0%. The 10 digital channels share was 19.9% and the five main channels, 65.9%.

Prime/7Qld won with a share of 23.0% from WIN.NBN on 20.1%. 7TWO won the digitals with 6.5%, from GO on 4.1% and 7mate on 3.4%. Nine still leads the week with 31.5% from Prime/7Qld on 29.9%.

Major Markets: A food night for Seven with wins overall and in the main channels in each of the five metro markets. Ten was weak, beaten into third in Sydney overall and the main channels by the ABC/ABC1, as well as in the main channels in Melbourne. Ten though was better in Adelaide where it beat Nine into second, overall and in the main channels. In the digitals, 7TWO had a clean sweep. Nine still leads Seven and Ten in Sydney and Melbourne, Seven leads in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.
