It’s not often that I recommend that people check out Neighbours, but tonight’s episode is well-worth watching as a curiosity. In an ambitious move, tonight’s episode has been filmed in real time, much like an episode of 24, or the film Nick of Time. Unlike 24, however, I suspect there will be fewer cheats with the real-time concept.

The reason for the gimmick feels pretty heavy for a Neighbours plot, but is intriguing nonetheless. The episode focuses “on a life-changing decision faced by Kate when she discovers that Brennan has to enter witness protection due to his involvement in a police corruption case. After hearing the news, Kate has just half an hour to decide whether she wants to leave with Brennan or stay behind on Ramsay Street”.

For novelty factor alone, it’ll be difficult not to give this one a look.

Neighbours airs at 6:30pm weeknights on Eleven.
