Virgin allergic to fiery uniforms. When Sir Richard Branson jetted in on the newly named plane for Virgin’s brand relaunch, he wasn’t wearing the new “V Australia” uniform. And no wonder: apparently the cabin crew’s uniforms have had to be entirely remade as it was discovered they were flammable. As in would go up in flames if the crew had to activate the safety slide. Many of the pilots have broken out in a rash caused by their new get-up.

No answers on business registration. Further to the tips provided by other readers: I still have not received an adequate response from the ABN Program Office running the business names legislation consultation at the Department of Innovation. We asked when the EMs for the draft legislation, regulations and legislative instrument will be available, and for a copy of the Regulator Impact Statement (it’s not on the website).¬†We shall be sending our submission to the Senate and encouraging a proper and transparent consultation is undertaken when the legislation hits parliament …

Lawyers at 10 paces in firm fight. There’s a messy legal fight taking place at one architectural and interior design studio. The company has been served an expensive statement of claim by a former director but rather than submit a defence sent an in-house para-legal to the directions hearing in the Federal Court. The judge was not impressed and ordered the company submit a defence and consider mediation. Solicitors for the former director have attempted to convince them to enter into mediation before the June hearing.

Speed cameras lose tolerance? Apparently speed camera tolerances, certainly in Victoria, are to be reduced to 2km/h, a member of the Victorian Police reports.

Some Champion NRL dealing. Melbourne Storm centre Beau Champion will play with the Gold Coast Titans in 2012, as the speculation goes. But he has knocked back an offer from Souths (the club who banished him to secure Greg Inglis). He politely told recruiter Mark Hughes to submit the offer to his manager Sam Ayoub, but not to hold his breath for a reply as “they probably couldn’t afford him”.

Tony does Italy. I glanced up and, to my surprise, there was a picture of our beloved would-be leader, Tony Abbott, flirting with a classy Italian signorina. Could it be?
