Remember the Murray-Darling? It’s still in deep trouble …

While the Murray-Darling has dropped out of the media cycle, the goal of sustainable management remains as far off as ever, particularly after events this month.

So two years into the Rudd government, and where are we on the Murray-Darling Basin?

Well, if it’s any consolation, no one is happy, not after this month, during which has been a flurry of activity on water issues.   Not farmers, irrigators, conservationists, South Australians, Victorians, New South Welshpersons, politicians or bureaucrats.

“Do you remember the Murray, darling?”

The AGW cult has distracted everyone from the permanent environmental disasters here and abroad. Oz rivers, Indonesian rainforest….

And Bernard, if you really think that: “many of these problems are ones that would be solved with several months of above-average rainfall across the basin.”…you don’t have a clue about the M-D.

Thanks BK – a very succinct and informative analysis of this troubling issue. Don’t imagine that Frank knows anything!!

I just wish Penny W and her mate Kev07 would make some meaningful moves to address the complexities.
