OK, the Nobel Peace prize for Obama is ridiculous – especially as nominations closed months ago.

But perhaps the committee felt that they may not get another chance to acknowledge his work in restarting the process of warhead reduction  – should he decided to escalate to a ‘surge’ in Afghnaistan, or run an operation against Iran.

Which basis for a peace prize – awarded now, for fear of other wars someone might start – is not strong.
