Israel’s “useful idiots” in the Australian media

Israel understands how important it is to roll out the red carpet for the media. But why are any journalists accepting?

Back in the days when the hammer and sickle flew proudly, the Soviet Union would spend big dollars on paying for journalists, academics and diplomats to see for themselves the “workers’ paradise”. It was part of a long term and relentless strategy by the Communists to win the propaganda war against the West.

Today the heirs and successors of those Soviet sympathising journos, head to Israel. This week saw the announcement that three columnists, The Australian’s Greg Sheridan, and the Herald-Sun’s Andrew Bolt and Alan Howe would be part of an Israel bound trade and diplomatic mission to be headed by Julia Gillard. The trip is being sponsored by the Australia-Israel Cultural Exchange which has Israeli and Australian government endorsement.

I wasn’t aware Albrechtsen Bolt, Sheridan and the other thingie whose name escapes me were possessed of values of any kind except those which suit their particular agendas. No doubt their adoring public will be awash with the fruits of their trip, being wined and dined and feted in 5 star hotels. Can’t see that lot spending a few nights with the faithful on a Kibbutz. Bolt now there’s a name full of Jewish connotation and family heritage.

I don’t know what Albrechsten, Bolt, and Sheridan call themselves, but certainly not journalists. The Israeli government would definitely not invite journalists, period.

The most disappointing aspect to this that the Rudd Government is taking part in this exercise, given that it’s participation is an endorsement of a national government increasingly considered an international pariah for its treatment of the Palestinians.

Albert Dadon, who heads the Australia-Israel Cultural Exchange that organised the trip, is on the record in the Australian newspaper as endorsing the Israeli Government’s killing of hundred of civilians in Gaza, because Hamas are terrorists.

Hamas have made their conditionsd for negotiations to end their conflict with Israel very clear…time & again. i.e. when the Gaza blockade is ended, and the direct negotiations for Israel’s withdrawal of the illegally occupied teritories begins, Hamas will stop firing its rockets into Israel.
Which part of the Hamas’ pronouncements doesn’t Israel, Dadon or Rudd & Gillard understand?
