Malcolm Turnbull, after many days’ deliberation has named his team.

“This issue of economic management is vital to the future of our nation … water scarcity … climate change … we have put together a powerful team … leadership, direction … Australia deserves … My vision is for an Australia where economic growth goes hand in hand with a clean environment … with a productive agricultural sector, environmental management.”

“Now turning to the team: I am delighted that my economic team will be lead by my deputy …” and there it was, another landmark moment for women in politics.

Tony Abbott is apparently content, Christopher Pyne is on the march, Warren Truss is satisfied. “There is a wealth of talent in the opposition party room.”

Market up 4%, no naked shorts in evidence.
