Self censorship in the Murdoch empire? Surely not. Freelancer Eric Ellis (he has some Murdoch expertise, as regular readers will recall) was commissioned by the Far Eastern Economic Review, a Murdoch publication, to write a review of Bruce Dover's Rupert's Adventures in China, How Murdoch Lost a Fortune and Found a Wife. It never saw the light of day.

The cast in this exchange are Ellis, Hong Kong deputy editor of the Review, Colum Murphy and Hong Kong editor Hugo Restall.
