Cbio Chairman Stephen Jones’ much promised $1 billion deal (see chairman’s address from the 2005 Cbio AGM) has failed to eventuate. The clinical development program has been mismanaged and key directors and staff have recently resigned.  Further to the Kelvin Thomson affair: Electorate office staff strongly advised Thomson against drafting the reference for signature. File notes exist in Thomson’s office confirming this. This advice was ignored but seven years later did Thomson expect a staffer to take the fall for his error? Former Wills MP Bob Hawke was determined that this wouldn’t happen and in consultation with Kevin Rudd it was decided that Senators Robert Ray and John Faulkner would visit Thomson to resolve matters.
