Here’s a nice little blunder in a press release from Nine’s Today show yesterday:

POLL RESULTS AT
MIDDAY from the Nine Network’s
“TODAY”

After the
appearance of Foreign Minister Alexander Downer at the Cole Inquiry
yesterday, this
morning Today
conducted a Today/Ninemsn Poll asking “Do you think Alexander Downer should be
sacked?”

The results show that the majority of Australians feel the
Prime Minister should take action.

By midday, nearly
35,000 people had voted.

no
38% said
yes

VOTES at midday : 34,291
YES: 21,090
NO: 13,201

Now we all know the Packers have strongly backed John Howard but this
clearly didn’t make sense. The correction reversing the figure came out
10 minutes later and, yes, Channel Nine viewers really do think Downer
should be sacked as the corrected release said:

By midday, nearly
35,000 people had voted.

no

38% said
