QANTAS has started the process to let tenders know to maintain core systems on an outsourced basis. Several Indian companies are on the shortlist while several large Australian IT providers have not been invited to tender.

The Queensland Newspapers building in Brisbane has just had all the plants removed from its offices, newsroom and cafeteria. I am told this was to save money. Given QN just spent a cool $5 million relaunching The Courier-Mail’s new compact format, I hope they spend the extra couple of thousand dollars they’ve just saved on plants wisely.
