Tasmanian politics has gone strangely quiet after the Betfair
Does this mean a poll is looming?
Well, one thing is clear. The state’s Liberals appear to have finally
got organised. The new party president, Dale Archer, and a new state director
from Canberra, David Mantach,
appear to have made a difference.
Unlike their South Australian colleagues who face an election in March,
the Tasmanian Liberals have found money for advertising. The Tasmanian Liberal Party of old
never had the cash for this sort of thing – even during an election campaign.
They can’t be blowing all their budget now, so they must have something in the
websites, too – one for the state organisation and one for the parliamentary party.
They’re nothing special – but they’re there. All of which makes early election
talk a lot more interesting.
