Remember the commotion last March about Alby Schultz switching his allegiance
from John Howard to Peter Costello because he wasn’t given the
chairmanship of a committee. All the Crikey coverage from the time is
packaged up here.
Well, one name that was barely mentioned anywhere in last week’s
reshuffle was Alby Shultz because the 66-year-old hard right member for
Hume is clearly back in the PM’s camp after being made Parliamentary
Matt Price had an interesting column on Sunday suggesting that Howard’s
big ministerial promotions went to all the quite do-gooders who didn’t
rock the boat. That is certainly not the case with Alby Schultz given
his monstrous dummy spit last year.
How on earth someone like Alby is more fit to be a parliamentary
secretary than other Costello supporters such as Tony Smith and George
Brandis is beyond me. Not wonder the rumbles about the reshuffle are
getting a little louder as the days wear on.
