• Kerry Packer is dead. With one of the media giants now a supernova, how long will the current center of gravity hold? Interesting times ahead for cross media issues and for PBL/Nine. – Larvatus Prodeo
  • I suppose it had to happen one day (especially given his health problems over the years), but it’s still quite surreal to hear that Kerry Packer – one of the all-time great Australians – is actually dead. When I first saw the news I actually wondered, briefly, if it was a false alarm. Several years ago, I was working for a publishing house when an incorrect news bulletin announced that Packer was dead. I remember, vividly, the publisher running out of his office and shouting, “Kerry’s dead!” and giving us all a big shock as he started to delegate who would cover the story – and from what angles. Obviously, once I read today’s story I could see that, unfortunately, it wasn’t going to be a false alarm this time. – Rob Irwin’s blog
