Why did Brian Evans, the most experienced newspaper operator in Fairfax’s senior ranks, quit the company this week?

The answer, according to one senior media analyst, lies on page 24 of
the company’s results slide show presentation on August 29. Have a look
at it below: Evans is placed on the company’s third tier of management,
alongside most of the executives who reported to him.

It may seem a small matter, but as most students and professors of
management should know, it’s the little things that create the big
results. Or big bungles.
