We all know that Paul Keating has a colourful turn of phrase, but Mark
Latham has arguably put more of them on the record at one time than
anyone else over the past 30 years. Given that no-one else in the media
has bothered to pass them on, here are six of the best (or worst,
depending on your point of view) from the man Mark Latham calls “a
comic genius”.

On the restoration of the heritage building in which his office is
located: “The National Trust sent around an adviser, a bloke in a
turban, telling me what to do. I said to him, ‘Listen, mate, I first
visited this building when I was seventeen years of age. You would have
been selling pappadams in Bombay back then’.”
