Once upon a time I used to try to
advise Amanda Vanstone on her personal presentation. I’ve been shocked
at how neat and demure the embattled immigration minister has looked in
her public appearances over the last 18 hours, so just had to talk to
Crikey’s cosmetics correspondent, a grooming and deportment expert.
Their view?

“Damage isn’t the only thing Amanda Vanstone is
controlling. The flyaways were well and truly reined in. There may have
been no cover up, but a colour up seemed to have taken place behind
closed doors. And there’s nothing like the perfect shade of coral to
soften a utilitarian navy blouse.

“No riot of colour, not crazy floral patterns. Mick Palmer had already found enough chaos in the Immigration Department.

“Vanstone pulled out all the right artifice for her PM in his moment of strife. Because he’s worth it.”
