Queensland played a significant role in the dominant display by the Blues half, Andrew Johns, in Origin Two last night. In the latter part of the long months of recovery from his horror run of injuries, Johns travelled to Brisbane each week to undergo specialist treatment at the Queensland government’s Academy of Sport. One can now expect the QAS to be flooded with requests from race horse trainers, greyhound trainers, cricketers, hurdlers, lawn bowlers, croquet players, and, of course, footballers.

Whatever the treatment Johns received, it worked wonders.

Origin is made for stellar performances, especially by champions. Last night we saw a returning champion, who should have been “underdone” in terms of fitness and match practice, but he demonstrated once again why State of Origin is so special.
