So much for a quieter life
and hitting the golf course after the sale of Crikey 11 weeks ago. The
week of June 6-10 will see yours truly filling in for ABC Victoria
morning host Jon Faine when he takes some holidays. Yikes, that’s 16.5
hours of live radio in a single week! Like last time, we’re in the
market for scoops, quality talent and talking points.

And there
will be no rest for the wicked in the mean time. The Crikey Army is
hereby called upon to assist in the following events over the next five
days:

  • Northern Territory Law Week is upon us and old Crikey will be
giving the “keynote address” at a lunch on Wednesday (tomorrow) in the
Ellery Room of the Alice Springs Convention Centre before bunking down
in a backpackers. If you happen to be in the Alice, why not come along
and for $61 enjoy a three course meal, some wine and a provocative
address as there are still some spots available. Bookings can be made
by calling (08) 8981 5104. Any suggestions on what to tell a bunch of
    Alice Springs lawyers?
  • I’ll be in Sydney on Friday for the annual meeting of John
Singleton’s STW Holdings and Babcock & Brown and am in the market
for a few curly questions that could be thown at both colourful boards.
  • Friday will also see the first Crikey pub night in two years,
so rock on down to the Nippon Club on Macquarie Street opposite State
Parliament from 5pm, although we’re very tempted to hang outside the
Bob Carr tenth anniversary fundraiser at The Westin.
  • On Saturday we have the ASX-SMH Finance Unzipped
seminar and Crikey’s topic for a half hour discussion is “Shareholder
rights: is your fund manager really looking after you?”

All tips and suggestions on what to say and do at these various events should be emailed to [email protected].
