Re – the famous yachtsman whose Porsche (and wife) were stolen. Yachtsman apparently contacted his broker (Andrew Plympton) to lodge claim for said vehicle and was told his luck was out as his premiums had not been paid for three years. Yachtsman then apparently prevailed upon AAMI who allegedly agreed to process claim if back dues were paid up.
Different rules for different people (what changes?). When my car was stolen the insurance co. sent an investigator to interview me – for a vehicle for which I was ultimately paid the grand sum of $5000 (Possibly a little less than a Porsche.) What a difference a bit of fame makes.
