The
advance hype on comedian and 77th Academy Awards host Chris Rock had
you half expecting the ghost of Lenny Bruce to appear as the media
dutifully swallowed the line that Rock might cause some kind of bad
taste meltdown during the telecast that would make “Nipplegate” sag by
comparison.

As it was he trod a more than respectable line
in his satirical swipes at Hollywood, the movie business and even
Hollywood’s worst actor George W. Bush. But easily his best and
funniest routines carried some worthy moral indignation. Take his
observations on the big studios where even Clint Eastwood had to work
overtime to successfully pitch his multi Oscar winning Million Dollar Baby to be made by Warner Bros.
