The Australian directors’ club is way too tight so Crikey is going to
start tracking who has held the most number of board seats. First out
of the blocks is Nick Greiner and we doubt we’ll find anyone busier
than him.

Former NSW Premier Nick Greiner is an obvious starting point
given he is chairing the $300 million-plus Bradken steel float which
was launched on April 27. Since resigning from the NSW Parliament in
1992, these are all the directorships that we know Greiner has held and
if anyone can beat this please email boss @crikey.com.au.

Chairman Bradken
Chairman British American Tobacco Australasia
Chairman Baulderstone Hornibrook Australia

CRIKEY: That is an impressive tally of 11 chairs, three deputy
chairs, five directorships and six consultancies. Is it any wonder that
Greiner is said to be one of the richest retired politicians in
Australia?

Naturally, he pulls that taxpayer funded pension
in whilst getting paid for all these gigs. It would be interesting to
chart the matrix between the Greiner consultancies and work given to
the firms he chaired over the years. This sort of thing is distinctly
passe in 2004 as directors strive to be completely independent.

However,
this hasn’t stopped Greiner keeping his snout in the consultancy trough
as the 2004 Who’s Who reveals that the Deloitte and Citigroup (owner of
Salomons) gigs are ongoing.

The amazing Dick Warburton workload
