Rate rise: the case for government gain

Talk of an interest rate rise off the back of a jump in inflation is all over the papers today – but would one necessarily be bad news for the government?

And now the good news: it’s the bad news

Here’s a little heresy: the bad international business news is really good news.

Figures released at 11.30am today finds All Groups CPI rose 1.2% in the June quarter 2007, compared with 0.1% in the March quarter. Headline CPI rose 2.1% through the year to June quarter 2007.
