Electorate analysis: Bundamba covers the outer eastern suburbs of Ipswich, from Dinmore east along the Ipswich Motorway to Goodna and south to Redback Plains and Springfield Lakes. Among the safest Labor seats in Queensland, the Liberals and Nationals did not even bother to field a candidate when the seat was created in 1992, and it currently has the third biggest Labor margin in the state. Left faction member Jo-Ann Miller has held the seat since the mid-term departure of Bob Gibbs in 2000. After the 2001 election she was promoted to parliamentary secretary, but quit after the 2006 election saying she wished to devote more energy to the electorate. She comfortably succeeded in overcoming preselection challenges last year from Kerry Silver and Ian McIlmurray, respectively described in the press as an electorate officer and home accessories manufacturer.
