CHOPPER

NEVER LET THE TRUTH GET IN THE WAY OF A GOOD YARN

Standover man, repentant underworld executioner and inventive raconteur, Mark Brandon 'Chopper' Read is Australia's most infamous ex-criminal. He is also one of the countrys most popular authors.

Inspired by the books by Chopper Read, and informed by study of police records, court transcripts, news coverage and interviews with police and prison workers, CHOPPER is an original screenplay by Andrew Dominik.

CHOPPER is not a bio-pic, but a multi-sided examination of the pathology of a complex and violent man. A man who becomes a cult figure thanks to a colourful imagination and a wicked, old-world sense of humour.

 KOKODA

Mates Became Heroes. The Track Became Legend.

Papua New Guinea 1942. The battle of the track has begun.

A fearsome force of Japanese fighters land on the northern coast of Papua New Guinea. Their intentions: seize Port Moresby and invade Australia. The only Australians available to face the onslaught are a small force of ill-equipped and untrained militia.

After sustained bombing and lethal attacks from the Japanese, the men are cut off from their supply lines and all communications. Isolated in the jungle, behind enemy lines, suffering the effects of dysentery and malaria, and to the point of collapse, they must make their way back through the most perilous terrain on earth... the KOKODA track.

Allegiances form, strengths and weaknesses emerge, and leadership battles threaten to destroy the group.

ROMULUS MY FATHER

ROMULUS, MY FATHER is based on Raimond Gaita's critically acclaimed memoir. It tells the story of Romulus, his beautiful wife, Christina, and their struggle in the face of great adversity to bring up their son, Raimond.

It is the tale of a boy trying to balance a universe described by his deeply moral father, against the experience of heartbreaking absence and neglect from a depressive mother. It is, ultimately, a story of impossible love that celebrates the unbreakable bond between father and son.

 NOISE

Graham McGahan is a cop - almost by default he thinks. Self centred, beset with doubt and afflicted with tinnitus, a few days before Christmas he is sent by his boss to man a police van in a suburban shopping strip, after violent murders rock the local community.

McGahan starts to engage with traumatised members of the local community, as they deal with the afterburn of these terrible crimes. He learns to come to grips with his role as a cop and a man. But terror has a way of finding the most vulnerable amongst us. NOISE deals with the response of an ordinary young man, to the challenge posed when a community is affected by tragic events. The film shows we are at our best when the worst occurs.
