Kingston
Swing Low
Marginal Liberal, 0.1%
Kingston is an outer suburban electorate in Adelaide’s south-west that stretches from O’Halloran Hill in the north through suburbs such as Hallett Cove, Morphett Vale, Reynella, Christies Beach, Hackham and Seaford down south to the coast at Sellicks Beach, and takes in the semi-rural areas around the wine centre of McLaren Vale and Willunga. Liberal Kym Richardson has held Kingston since the last election, but the seat has changed hands eight times since its creation in 1949.
It is a measure of South Australia’s importance in this election that Hindmarsh is the most marginal Labor seat in the country, and Kingston is the Liberal seat that needs the smallest swing to change hands. It is top of the target list for the ALP in South Australia. If Labor is doing as well in the state as the polls have suggested, winning it should be straightforward for its candidate Amanda Rishworth.
