Fairly safe Liberal, 9.5%.

Outer suburban: south-eastern outskirts of Perth, with suburbs such as Kelmscott, Canning Vale and Armadale and the semi-rural areas around Pinjarra, Byford and Serpentine, plus a section of the coast south of Mandurah.

Member: Mr Don Randall (born 1953), since 2001 (previously MP for Swan (1996-98).

Canning has traditionally been a marginal seat. Randall benefited from a significant swing in 2004, but interest rate fears and a better Labor poll performance could well reduce his majority.
