Safe Liberal, 10.3% (post-redistribution).
Semi-urban/Provincial: based on the city of Cairns and its immediate surrounds, but also including the sparsely inhabited Cape York Peninsula.
Member: Hon. Warren Entsch (born 1950), since 1996 (retiring).
Leichhardt looks safe on paper, but the retirement of Warren Entsch throws the competition wide open. The Nationals will be hoping they can win the seat, and a big swing to Labor is not out of the question.
