Fairly safe Liberal, 8.9% (post-redistribution).
Suburban: south-eastern coastal suburbs of Brisbane, based on Redland Shire and including Thorneside, Capalaba, Cleveland, Victoria Point and the islands in Moreton Bay.
Member: Mr Andrew Laming (born 1966), since 2004.
Bowman looks safe enough on paper, but every
member who has held the seat has been defeated. Laming has been recently cleared
of allegations he defrauded his parliamentary printing allowance, but the
negative publicity may still work against him at the polls, especially if Queensland swings
strongly behind local lad Kevin Rudd.
