"And for Australia’s coal industry, if world consumers wake up one day and don’t want their product, it will have significant implications for our economy."
World consumers won't wake up one day; one day the environment will be so toxic and polluted that it will force a change on consumers at the pain of death to them; see what is happening in China now and it's not going to get any better soon.
We have had a banker, now an economist both trying to be environmentalists; leopards cannot change their spots. Both of them have given no indication they are aware of the scale of disaster the world is speeding towards.

These articles are of the same quality that used to appear in the AFR pre-Stutchbury.
Students of journalism searching for actual examples of the art are no doubt subsisting on these Carbon Cutter articles, given the dearth of anything resembling their quality elsewhere.
Just a small diversion into gas and renewables; where does bio-mass generated methane and syn-gas fit into AGL's market plans.
Could they capture these fields for themelves and easily integrate them into their existing gas supply chains?
