When it comes to indigenous matters Skelton has an impressive history of knowledge, and more importantly ,hands-on experience with remote communities and an obvious passion for improving indigenous outcomes. Like Marcia Langton , he tells it how it is.

What he doesnt do is come to indigenous affairs with his political hat on. Thats exactly the aporach we need. No more treating indigenous affairs as a political football.

Skelton has form. When the Bakhtiyari family were about to be deported but the Afghan ambassador stated that they were Afghans, he invented an interview with some unknown person in Kabul to justify his brutal and false reports that Roqia was a liar who was sleeping with her brother.

I have the letter sent to Vanstone just before she deported the family to the wrong country on false papers.

When Paul McGeough found the facts in Afghanistan Skelton was still allowed by the AGE to try and contradict the evidence.

The gripe people have with Langton is that she has simply lied about environmentalists motives.

We don’t much care if anyone wants to mine stuff, what we care about is the destruction of aboriginal land rights and the handing out of baubles for services that aborigines are entitled to without having to take the baubles.

After I caught Skelton out lying over and over again he threatened to sue me until I asked Julian Burnside to deal with him.

He has never been much of a journalist.
