Julia is nothing if not tenacious. Up and out there with another see-thru outfit on in front of all that roaring Sydney traffic.

See-thru to that sharp tongued performer devoid of ideas and real brain power.

See-thru to a narrow cynical player intent only on self preservation for herself and her factional allies.

See-thru to a crass opportunist, grabbing for a headline with no thought of the consequences of spun billion dollar schemes which pass for political policy.

Would not be surprised if her drowning Labor mates don’t chuck her overboard at the next dud opinion poll.

There is a simple way to solve western Sydney’s transport problems – and improve national infrastructure at the same time.
1) build the airport at Badgery’s Creek. Even as it is being built, more jobs will come to the west.
2) Open it first as a dedicated freight airport. Much of the horror traffic on the M4 and M5 are container trucks. More businesses will relocate from around Mascot.
3) Open it next as the main international airport, and have dedicated express trains from Badgery’s Creek to Campbelltown (the new big hub city) to the domestic terminal at Mascot and Sydney.

Point out to wingeing locals that aircraft noise is less stressful than spending four hours a day in a traffic jam.

Me bags an even more minority Labor government depending on the goodwill of Green & Independents. Even Katter, tho’ in yer gutz ya no he’s nutz, at least he has a heart.

Yes the PM’s out of the starting gate, but as she rounded the corner there was Tony Abbott a length in front…
The fixation on Western Sydney is comical. Every move is contrived and scripted. Hopefully people in the electorate won’t be easily deceived.
I’m sure Western Sydney could do with an highway upgrade, but then so could the Bruce Highway and probably countless others not on the PM’s agenda.
I see the PM’s pledge as grubby politicking, a desperate attempt to buy votes.
It’s theatrical watching politicians slither around the campaign trail making promises they don’t keep once elected.
I’m grateful for autonomy and the off button.

@ dazza. You say of Abbott where is the mobney coming from? Answer eezy as pi; sell of all government owned assets. Remember lazy pete the treasurer of the Howard era …his way of making a surplus was to do just that - sell as many assets as possible to the mainchancers and carpetbagger out there. This time to pay for all the Abbott promises I just hope there are enough assets left. Then again, if not, sell and privatise all the main roads to private toll road operators; that horizon is endless.

But,, but.. Did you write so feverishly about Abbots plans? Just in case you forgot in your excitement to sink your boot into Gillard, he’s even worse by promising even more money. Now, will you do us all a favour and ask Abbott where’s the money coming from? And report back here so we can decide for ourselves which plan is better and who’s more likely to carry it out.

Margot, have you considered investing in a portable espresso machine? Or, perhaps a stove top espresso maker & a portable gas hot plate? You’re going to need lots of potent caffeine shots to stay awake through this extended political campaign! Also, have a chat to Doc Nitschke about his portable options, just in case it all gets just a tad too much. I must admit, the thought of having Tony & Julia in my face for the next six months is driving me to consider ALL the options!

Mortgage debt up to their eyeballs, stuck in traffic for 4 hours a day, getting brain damage from listening to Jones and Hadley on the radio and reading the Tele, yes, I would want to kill someone. Sounds like hell, and the rest of us share in the political fallout.

The pistol has been well and truly fired Margot, seemingly into a foot. The PM has made it absolutely clear by this visit and the subsequent announcements that these are the days of campaigning, rather than the days of governing and we are indeed embarked on Australia’s Longest Campaign.

They could probably put the budget in the black with a ‘temporary’ increase to the exit tax. Anyone with any sense and the ability to do so will be heading out of the country until September.
