Fagan has a couple of good journos working for him - they’ve retained binocular vision and can be as critical of one side as the other - his “balance”.
But the lumpy majority in his “undies” are no more than conservative political time-share salespeople. Who can see no wrong in conservative politics - because to see that and draw punter attention to it, in print, could have a negative affect on voter perception of their ability to govern better than Labor/the Left.

As for Murdoch FWISM (free-marketeer - when it suits Murdoch) - champion of “market forces” - he wants a two party state/political system - where he can play one side off against the other for his media PR favour, fun and profit - without having to face the greater electorate (it’s easier when you own “the system”).

Then again how could they have any respect for a government that expects a company (managing/editting most of the news that we get to see, like they do), to abide by and adhere to a voluntary set of standards for self-regulation, like PCP’s and other mission statements, like those they hide their partisan political activism behind? Howard didn’t - he was in on their joke - and benefited from their sort of positive conservative PR - so’s Abbott.
No wonder they see Labor/Gillard as a giggle and object for public derision?
A speed-bump to their sort of unelected governance.

I thought the role of “News Producer” already existed at News Limited tabloids, charged with making stuff up to further the proprietor’s agenda. Like this story for instance:

Of course it’s the worst government for the media industry :-
they won’t get out of their way and let Limited News run the country and them do whatever they want. And they won’t take advice from a company owned by a foreigner - with it’s/their “idiosynchratic” shares : voting power policy - telling them how to run our democracy.

It is remarkable that these companies have such little faith in their products. Given the evident sanctity with which they hold to the value of journalism it is somewhat surprising that none of them seem to think that anyone will pay for it.
