Adversity makes strange bedfellows and the enemy of an enemy is deemed a friend by those of limited vision, morality & ethics.
Assange made himself the enemy of so many so powerful entities that he has few friends with less than zero power.

Yes when you put it in those terms, he does sound like an ordinary journalist doesn’t he - except the view he gave us was the “less popular/establishment”, of real public interest, not as judged by the establishment for general exhibition?
And his “hacking” was bigger than theirs?

Since this fellow was donated a Walkley Award, every journalist from arounf the burning log has given us a potted history of all his protagonists and his own antics.
He has written buggar all, and in fact, his trade is internet snooping and his claim to fame is avoiding answering questions and facilitating the filching of computer records and data.
Hardly groundbreaking, but maybe offering a fleeting salacious interest but with little or no value to his own career or the general public’s attention.
