@BILL HILLIGER - And guess what? After the Election, when Abbott gets someone else to do his sums, he'll break his promise re maternity leave, and not one word about broken promises will pass the lips of the Murdoch stables - not one! They'll fall over themselves with 'explanations' and even pull the 'at least they're being honest with the Australian people, blah blah'? Total crap!

What have you read or heard about Abbott's back flip on climate change policy. He went in to the 2007 Election with Howard's policy. I don't recall it being changed prior to '10 Election. In fact, he publicly supported Turnbull, as did Greg Hunt(worked side by side with him) on a COMBINED policy re climate change. It was only AFTER Abbott became Leader that he changed - publicly anyway! He then took the 'Julia LIAR' bs and ran with it! Not one reference by the Murdoch rags. Hunt and even more so Turnbull went with it so they'd have a crack at govt? Sickening!

If I had the time, I'd round up all the 'good oil' Greg Hunt ranted on about it while he was still a believer on taking action against climate change. I just recall, that he wrote papers, spoke at length on occasions and was a pro a policy for lowering awful pollution levels into the atmosphere. He and Turnbull traded in their views/integrity and are either silent or almost anti any action NOW! I have no time for either of them!

Just remember! You read it here first! Abbott will NOT adopt the extravagant maternity leave policy! Just like he did with the Health Insurance Rebate increase in 2004? All we heard about that lie was an 'ooopppss, sorry folks, will cost too much'? So sorry! Nothing!

Just wait until the Liberals get in as the national government, you ain't seen nothing yet! Pay cuts and redundancies is what Joe Hockey is contemplating for all government employees -"making the hard decisions." Oops... I forgot to add, no pay cuts or redundancies for polititians.

@TOM Perhaps, but imagine what it must be like to have some of these pollies as your boss? I shudder to think. Every day would/could be a misery. Remember the whistle blower in the electoral office of that pedophile Labor bloke? Imagine working for him, and how they were treated after she bravely blew the whistle on him. Some staffers work in both places I believe!

These workers will be told how lucky they are to have a job! Usually by someone who earns a heap more than they do. I had a boss once who used to pick on me over stupid things - not being able to be in two places at the same time, for instance. she had form in this regard. Had to have someone as a whipping post so she could function????

There's a few NSW politicians that I would NOT like to work for! Every now and then we get to see an 'ugly look' on one of their faces, and I think, wow! I'm glad I'm not dealing with you each day!

My recollection of staffers in NSW Parliament is that they have a pretty comfortable work life. Feel free to contradict me.

And the impending GFC mark 2 and lots of talk of a severe, nay record slashing, federal budget, makes me wonder if public servants everywhere might be glad just to have a job?

Point taken about pollie raises. They don't seem too keen to tighten the belt.

I'm on the side of the workers! 2.5% increase is an insult. Just wait, it won't be long before the pollies vote on their own pay rise - heaps more than this paltry amount. Oh yes, they'll say that the decision is via an "independent" source! Well of course it is! Wait until that happens. The screams of outrage will resonate around the country - and start at my place!

Sickening!
