Bill O’Reilly detractors have reason to cheer: the infamous right-wing US firebrand has threatened to quit his show if Barack Obama raises his taxes. And for O’Reilly fans, it’s another reason to dislike the President.

This is the kind of reporting that should come with a warning similar to the film and tv regulations.

Gotta love the Yanks: will raise debt ceilings but won’t raise taxes. Imagine if China stopped buying their bonds and funding their deficits.

Dill O’Blimey makes Alan Jones sound intelligent.

Mr Obama please do us all a favour, tax Bill O’Relly an extra 15%, he might just go away. Bill O’Reilly was recently subject to verbal abuse when someone called him an intellectual.

Don’t lose sight of the fact that Bill Reilly appears on the Fox channel operated by the champion of democracy and fair play in the media Rupert Murdoch. Bill should come to Australia and look at our tax rates.

Do you think Alan Jones could be persuaded to do the same when we get the Carbon Tax?

So, govt policy in the US is to be determined by the personal circumstances of one Focks propagandist? Couldn’t be a proxy for Ol’ Humble, could he?

Despite all the name calling nobody has addressed any of the points he made.

Bill O’Reilley used to be the far-right firebrand of Faux News, but these days’s he almost left-wing (relativly speaking, compared to many othe the other FN talking heads).

His speech is a bit of a dummy spit. Does anyone really think he’s going to quit his job just because he’s ‘only’ allowed to keep 50% of his $1m+ salary? IDTS. Keeping 50% is still 50%. And lets face it, people ‘earning’ $1m plus probably aren’t earning it in the sense that you or I would consider earning a living.

Bill accuses the pres of being dihonest with figures, then is dishonest himself by saying the top .02% of income earners pay 21% of Income tax, and that’s ‘not fair’. The reason they pay 21% is that they earn so much more than the millions who subsist on Food Stamps and shitty, minimum-wage jobs. To put it another way, the 99.8% of people who earn less than a million dollars a year (to use Bills figures) pay 79% of Income tax, despite earning an average of about 950k less each than the top 0.2%.
