Monday night’s episode of The Daily Show focused on Osama bin Laden’s death and the White House’s media roll out, with a delighted Jon Stewart moving through puns at breakneck speed and stretching his smile from ear to ear.

What video ?????????????????
Yes, what is this…April 1st?
And while on the subject of Jon Stewart, why isn’t ABC2 televising his shows any more? There’s only so much of Spicks and Specks re-runs that a human can take. if ABC promoted Stewart’s show they get good ratings.
Sorry , i had a Adobe plugin needed updating to 10.0. ZUT ALORS try the updating your Adobe Reader ? Worked for me and yes to Jon Stewart , use to get JS online ? Always used up my MB’s watching him and then suffered with being choked down to a slow speed . With my download , i got 1MB/ sec ?? MAX usual speed is from 100 Kb/sec to 500 Kb/sec. Firefox upgrade last week ???
Zut, as I understand it, the Comedy Channel on Fox negotiated an exclusivity agreement for Stewart/Colbert. Presumably they saw how it was rating on ABC2, and figured that it might be a chance to sign up a few more subscribers.
This is Jon Stewart??? NOT impressed.
I suppose there was little choice. (At least his cred with the neo-cons has reached the stratosphere).
Our delightful Left?/!!! ABC couldn’t wait to echo their American masters. They went to air with the Brennan crap ‘using a woman as a human shield’. God forbid that they should investigate rather than parody. What a massive disappointment they are.
Barry,
Thanks, if I can figure out how to upgrade Adobe on my Mac there’s a chance I can view this.
Matt,
I had a faint hope that Jon S would return to FTA some day. Not even Jon Stewart can force me to part with even one dollar to News Lrd.
That’s a classic. He’s a bit self-satisfied & smug but i guess it’s understandable. The florida peninsular (should that be penisular) animation showed a lot of b*lls!
Imagine having no sense of humour! Poor sod Elan.
Well, if Jon thinks its ok then it must be ok, right?
Zut @ 4 May 1.51pm - agree like you wouldn’t believe.
Oh I know numnuts,-its a curse I have to live with.
@DFSDS - yep sure thing. See’ya there.
@ELAN - what was the ABC supposed to do? Have a reporter go in with the SEALS to bear witness, or report on the information that was coming out? Pretty easy to criticise after the fact from your armchair.
Good good! all has been deleted. I got in late last night, and popped in to Crikey. It was like the bloody twilight zone! Only me, someone called EWANKO….I think.., and DaFt SoDS.
Daft Sod was flooding the site with crapula. What are those ‘people’ ? called?
MICKYBEE: pulllease will you people quit it with the armchair scenario!! Its been done to bleedin’ death!
…….and MICKY? don’t you go gettin’ all silly now. An ABC reporter is not required at such times. No reporter is. Just the Power Elite, watching peoples heads explode in blood and guts. Perhaps a nice selection of cold cuts afterwards?
The ABC? criticism is entirely valid. Any halfway decent news channel will seek confirmation before putting things to air. The ABC is now mimicking the commercial channels. In their zeal to ‘get in quick’ they simply copied Brennan’s statement.
They never used to do this. I hope Media Watch touches on this. We’ll see.
Enjoying the chat btw! Over to you!
@ELAN. Yes it’s all good - the discussion that is. Back on the ABC - I’m still not sure what you would have them do? Not report what they were given & be chided for not bringing you the news (the Murdock press has a task force looking for instances of this I’m sure)? Who are they going to confirm it with? There was only one source at the time. At least they didn’t broadcast the fake OBL death photo as ch7 did.
What would I have them do? Return to what they used to be. Did you see that reporter? NOT ‘it has been alleged that UBL used a woman as a human shield’. No. ‘A woman was used as a human shield’. Tacky.
I expect them to be different and better than the commercial channels.
They used to be. It is imperative in todays newspap world to have some sort of quality news reportage. The ABC used to pride itself on its independence. Now? it is indeed a loyal Government public servant.
We are going to repeat ourselves MICKY. They ARE getting worse. They ARE getting tabloid. They are getting shoddy in how they report news.
I guess this is what is meant by the race to the bottom.
Your turn.
@ELAN. I’m not here to defend the ABC per se - just thought you were being a bit harsh. At least the ABC will have a look at itself whereas the commercials won’t give a stuff.
It doesn’t look at itself. I was in contact with ‘my ABC’ ’ very very recently! It was most unwilling to look at itself!
I expect more from it than the comms. We are getting the same.
