John, I actually really appreciate what you were doing in Afghanistan. I wanted to know whether you were serving in the defence forces or working for an aid organisation or NGO.

Your point is so well-made. It shows why racism is so inherently irrational. Racists will beat their chests about patriotism and “our men and women in uniform” without having a care for the fact that the spouces of our men in uniform might just be extremely hurt by racial slurs.

Kevin Andrews is a despicable sod.

I felt this deeply and remember as if it were yesterday. Kevin Andrews despicably led this into the media when I was a long way away in Afghanistan, and my Mozambican born wife and children, were facing the reality of Australian racism and paranoia in Melbourne.

Is anyone surprised by any of this? Why do people watch this drivel anyway? The poor old ABC has to jump through hoops to prove its not biased yet the commercials get away with this sort of nonsense all the time - and lets face it, they have, and will, continue to get away with it while people keep watching and ACMA is confined to hitting them with a wet tissue.
