Another 'anomaly' arising from the racist heritage of the constitution is Section 25, which makes provision for the states to disenfranchise 'any race'. Brian Costar has written a recent paper about that one.

I don't think it is as much the constitution itself which is the problem. The problem, which is clearly deep-seated, is that the Government uses the power provided to continue discrimination under the guise of "it's in their best interest". The wise will realise that it isn't, which is to say, the Government doesn't.

Statements (in articles here on Crikey included) that Australia is generally "not racist" are shown in this article to be utter bollocks. That any sentient being can actually believe that Australia is generally not racist is an indictment against the so-called education of so-called educated people.

Australia is utterly racist, so racist in fact that Ausoriginals, being generally considered to be incomprehensibly foreign, are treated more miserably than any other indigenous group in. the. world. The strengths of Australian indigenous people are totally ignored; their vulnerabilities.. kicked.

And why? It seems that Australia isn't big enough to accommodate that much difference. If you're not a box-fed, cardboard-cutout suburban eunuch, 'you aint shit'.

Maybe the red Aussie soil is losing its brain nutrients, cos its quite obvious that while we're all desperately trying to get a bit more into step with our nature to avert utter catastrophe.. wouldn't it be smart to get to know more about the thinking of the people who looked after it for the last 40,000 years or so?

What the government has done in the Northern Territory is a disgrace. $1.5 billion spent on soldiers, redundant doctors, out-of-control bureaucracy and a set of rules and regulations so humiliating and unworkable, the government had to suspend the Racial Discrimination Act so it could force them on to the population.

They took away such basic human rights as the right to own property, the right to read what you want, the right to spend the money you earn and the right to run a business.

Looks like nothing much has changed since the Aboriginal Protection Act of 1869 :(
