What we mean by objective is not the point.
Respected Australian editor Syd Deamer once told political journalist Don Whitington:
“There is no such thing as a good objective journalist. If you are not sensitive enough to feel for your subject, to have a point of view, to suffer joy or agony or sympathy about a story you are covering, you will never be a good journalist. Do not strive to be objective. Strive to be fair.”

That’s funny. The bullsh*t artists ‘formerly known as’ Prince! Because the Big Media are full of princes and princesses!

On a more serious note, as said once earlier, the untrained general public have a certain objectivity from their amateurishness. They are disinterested in the sense they don’t need to impress an editor, hold down that job to pay that mortgage, or compete with colleagues for that promotion. They will have all those pressures in another part of their lives too but not from their social/community media expressions so hopefully they just tell it fair and straight up to their perrsonal limits.

Platform, process, I’m still not sure if they are what is affecting the quality of a given article. It’s like TV, whether you use digital, HD, cable to deliver and display it, if all you have is M*A*S*H reruns, it’s the content that lets you down. (not that I really mind MASH, it’s the rerun part) Journalists are now value-adding from other news sources, and having the cheek to complain (or have their owners complain) that search engines like Google are aggregating them.
