The 1896 Melbourne Cup

Slightly fewer drunken women throwing up champagne all over their frocks, but in 1986, the Melbourne Cup was pretty much the same as it is more than 100 years later: horsies run around a track.

    I’m fascinated by the bloke with the cigar determined to stay in front of the camera even as he mocks the hat-waving dork (WTF is with the hat-waving) and is forced off to the left. Back he comes to stay right in centre-shot.
