I'm not sure if John McCormick is the right guy to be running CASA. In the late 1970s, when he was a RAAF fighter pilot, he was flying very low level up the west coast of the Malay peninsula, enroute Singapore to Butterworth, when a (very tall ) coconut tree struck the right wing tip of his Mirage fighter, ripping about 20cms off the wing tip. Fortunately for him, the old Mirage, which is built like the brick outhouse, kept flying. Good one, JMac.
