What I find ridiculous is the Coalition thinking that playing to Telstra's shareholders over the breakup is a winning strategy. The vast majority of the shareholders have small parcels of the shares. They will gain far more financially from the breakup and likely reduction in their personal telecommunication costs then from any reduction in the share price.

Of course Telstra in its present format is a Liberal.Nats created monster and Minchin is hacked off Labor wants to put a stake in its heart. His attitude has been nothing short of dogged anti change, and sounds like a dork as he bleats and whinges. It is beyond belief this Opposition continues to cling to the past, invoking the name of the hated one, Howard whenever policy is debated. What does it take for them to understand, Howard is the main reason they are, where they are now. The rodent isn't going to ride into the halls of power astride a red eyed, nostril smoking steed, casting the Labor Govt into an abyss and taking his place again as top rat at the despatch box. The sooner the Opposition caste out that particular unsavoury part of Australian political history and start anew, they are doomed to remain the rabble they have become.
