There is an air of "thats all sorted then" just because there has been a popular TV program with the BNP leader scorching himself in the spotlight. I am sure comfortable suburban TV lounges are not where the BNP battles are fought. BNP views can be found in Essex Taverns as they can be on village cricket greens, cloistered courtyards, church congregations and other parts of the community, please be mindful of cliches.

One Nation were a flash in the pan party that largely owed their support to Hanson's personal popularity and the media circus that surrounded her (I know that's a simplification, but...). The BNP and their predecessors have a much longer history and have been organised to a certain extent for most of that time.

The Sun and co. may have been bashing Griffin today, but they're usually running articles about how immigrants are getting better Council Housing than the locals or whipping up hysteria about the burka or just engaging in garden-variety Muslim-bashing. We all know what he is, especially in light of his recent appearance, but the question is, do his supporters?

Whilst I agree New Labour's legacy is appalling whats even more worrying is that all those things described would have been exactly the same under a Tory government.
Does anyone for one moment think that a Tory government wouldn't have enthusiastically joined and supported the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq or that they would have helped close income gaps.

The problem Britian faces is that they now basically have 2 political parties that have effectively the same failed policies.

Well, the Independent, linked on the front page of Crikey, points out that the interview was a disaster for both Griffin and the BNP.

As for the Murdoch papers, try

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/politics/article6886436.ece

Unfortunately my work server blocks the News of the World and the Sun, but I doubt they support Griffin either.

As for the BNP winning seats, One Nation did as well. Now look at them.

You can, in history books.

Where any of the Newspapers the condemmed him owned by Murdock, given theres not much difference from what the BNP puts out and a large percentage of what FOXS NEWS does.
Glad Michael thinks giving this bloke free air time will do him no good, look at the uproar here over the boat people, I have spoken to a lot of Poms here and they think the BNP is right,if they win seats in the British Parliament what then?

And that is why those fools protesting outside were a waste of time.

The BBC did more damage to the BNP with this interview opportunity than the protesters did or would have done in a decade.

The cleansing sunlight of public exposure and scrutiny is a wonderful method of dealing with extremists from each end of the political spectrum.

The BBC not only did damage to an extremist organisation, but did so in a manner that was within their charter and reinforced their freedom of speech credentials.

In effect they gave Griffin the rope to hang himself, which he duly did.

Its a shame that something similar was not done here for Pauline Hanson and One Nation, rather than demanding that she be ignored, let them appear and be seen for the unrepresentative extremists that they are.

Bravo BBC!
